❓ FAQ

What's the difference between a Large CD and a regular time deposit?
Large CDs usually start at ¥200,000, are transferable, and often pay 0.1~0.5 percentage points more than comparable retail time deposits (which start at ¥50). Both are covered by China's deposit insurance up to ¥500,000 (principal + interest) per depositor per bank.
When should I use the Time-Demand Flexible product?
Use it when you're not sure when you'll need the money but expect to hold it ≥ 3 months. Below 3 months it earns the demand rate; from 3 months it earns 60% of the matching lump-sum rate; beyond 1 year it's capped at 60% of the 1-year lump-sum rate.
How is early withdrawal treated?
At most banks, the withdrawn portion earns only the demand-deposit rate on the withdrawal date (often 0.2%~0.3%). Some banks used to offer 'bracket-matching' rates but this is now rare. Large CDs can sometimes be transferred on a secondary market to avoid a penalty — hold to maturity when you can.
How should I allocate when deposit rates are falling?
Try a deposit ladder: split your principal across 1/2/3-year maturities so one portion matures each year to re-price. For truly long-term idle funds, lock in a longer-maturity Large CD while yields are still attractive.
